Descriptiondieses wilde Klaffen (this wild gaping) resulted from experiments with time-lapse recordings of choreographed bodies in different city and nature environments. Element #3 (as one of five parts of the entire installation) is the momentary time segment of a young woman in a city that continues indefinitely. This continuation - not a loop or repetition - is the incessantly varied recurrence of shortest segments in time lapse. Isolated from its temporal succession or context the image is being unhinged from a (narrative) mode of telling or thinking and becomes the actual performer. What it performs is the attempt to overcome, linguistically speaking, third-person discourse and enter direct speech. Carrying out this ceaseless attempt Element #3 draws the space between the ostensibly present woman and the actualised presence of the image she is caught in. That is to say it shows and actualises the gap between representation and presentation to make space for the work to happen.
